Raku pottery refers to a fast outdoor firing where pieces are removed from the raku kiln while they are still glowing molten orange and are placed into a container of combustibles. The pottery will result in a range of unique colours and effects including metallic coppers, bronze tones and crackle.

Come and make a range of clay creations from a special raku clay at 10am on 9th August. We recommend you make a few smaller pieces so you are able to experiment with these to explore the amazing effects in the raku firing. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with pottery experience.

We will be scheduling Raku firings on the last 2 Sundays in September at 12-4pm during our open studios. On one of these days (no need to come to both or for the entire time) you can paint your bisque fired creations with raku glazes and they will go through an outdoor raku firing.

Should you not be able to attend the raku making session but would like to take part in the raku firing please contact us.
